Eight Advisory provided financial and tax due diligence services to Kharis Capital as part of the transaction.
Kharis Capital, founded in 2015 and headquartered in Brussels, is a private equity firm specialising in consumer-facing businesses with strong growth potential. With backing from long-term family investors, Kharis has built a significant presence in the European quick-service restaurant sector through its Quick Service Restaurant Platform (QSRP). The firm’s portfolio includes over 1,200 outlets across brands such as Burger King, Quick, and O’Tacos, as well as investments in the British chain Chopstix and the Dunkin’ Donuts brand rights for France. Kharis combines strategic operational expertise with financial support to help its partners scale sustainably across Europe.
Foodmaker, founded by Belgian entrepreneur Lieven Vanlommel, produces fresh, healthy meals for retail and operates a network of 23 branded restaurants. Based in Westerlo, the company has achieved rapid growth through partnerships with leading supermarket chains including Delhaize, Monoprix, Franprix, and REWE. Foodmaker’s mission is to make nutritious, convenient food widely accessible, balancing innovation in meal production with a strong commitment to sustainability and transparency in its ingredients and sourcing.
The acquisition aims to accelerate Foodmaker’s international restaurant expansion, leveraging Kharis Capital’s extensive experience in scaling food service brands. Together, the partners plan to at least double Foodmaker’s restaurant footprint across Belgium, France, and Germany, establishing it as a leading European brand for healthy, fast-casual dining. This partnership will also enable Foodmaker’s management to focus on enhancing production capacity and retail growth while benefiting from Kharis’s operational expertise in multi-country restaurant development.
