Eight Advisory Turnaround Index provides leaders with a strategic compass to help them better understand the evolving landscape of insolvency risk in France.

Beyond the numbers, the Index gives a detailed analysis of difficulty risk in each sector over the next 12 months, enriched with Eight Advisory’s experience of turnaround projects.

Key learnings for second half of 2025 edition:

• Small and medium-sized companies under pressure: with insolvencies rising by 9% compared to 2024, SMEs (excluding micro-enterprises) have emerged as the segment under the highest pressure. During the same period, micro-enterprises experienced a more modest 3% rise.
• Jobs at risk: Over the past 12 months, the number of jobs threatened by collective proceedings has grown by 6%.
• Energy in the headwinds: Infrastructure and Energy are increasingly exposed, with less public support and weakening demand.
• Consumer underinvested: Although the sector is stabilising, it faces important constraints. Private and foreign investment continues to contract at a time when capital is essential for adapting to the changing expectations of Gen Z and Gen Alpha, as well as the increasingly stringent regulatory landscape.
• AI gap widening: Across industries, companies increasingly face a widening divide between fast adopters of AI and those lagging behind. Limiting margin erosion now requires treating AI not as an operational enhancement but as a strategic priority.
