Bencis, founded in 1999, is an independent investment firm focused on supporting ambitious management teams in building strong, healthy businesses. With a longstanding presence in the Benelux and DACH regions, Bencis has actively supported the growth of Equine Care Group since its inception, fostering a unique, collaborative veterinary model and helping establish the group’s leading position across Europe.
Equine Care Group, founded in 2021 by Dr. Tom Mariën and Dr. Frederik Bruyninx, has swiftly established itself as a frontrunner in the field of equine healthcare. Bringing together equine hospitals, ambulatory practices, laboratories, and nutritional services under a unified, veterinarian-led platform, the group treats over 50,000 horses annually and operates in more than 70 countries. ECG has received widespread recognition for its innovative approach, including the prestigious title of “Scale-up of the Year” in Belgium in 2024.
CNP, founded in 1986 by the late Mr Albert Frère, is a private investment company with Belgian roots and a strong reputation for supporting long-term value creation. As a family-controlled investor with significant holdings in leading international businesses, CNP is well placed to help Equine Care Group scale its global operations while maintaining its mission-led, collaborative model.
The sale aims at accelerating Equine Care Group’s international growth and reinforcing its position as a global leader in equine veterinary care. The partnership with CNP will facilitate the development of new state-of-the-art clinics in underserved regions, promote cross-border research and education initiatives, and support continued innovation in diagnostics and medical technology—all while preserving ECG’s core identity as a veterinarian-led organisation.
