The European path to internationalisation
In this interview with Finance Community Magazine, Mara Caverni, Partner at Eight Advisory, traces the journey that took New Deal Advisors from a bold bet launched at the height of Europe's post-Lehman crisis to becoming Eight Advisory's Italian anchor — and explains why a distinctly European approach to internationalisation has never been more relevant.
Italy’s M&A market is navigating a complex moment: restructuring mandates in Q1 2026 increased four to five times year-on-year, while traditional M&A has slowed under geopolitical headwinds. Yet NDA’s boutique model — senior-led, fully independent, deliberately no origination — is built precisely for this environment. “We are small, but that is a deliberate choice. A senior team is able to pick up on nuances that larger teams, composed of less experienced profiles, often miss,” explains Mara Caverni.
Founded in 2012 and covering Transaction Services, Restructuring, Forensic & Litigation, Valuations and Transformation, NDA closed 2025 with €20 million in revenue and 51 professionals. Its entry into the Eight Advisory group in October 2025, after more than a decade of collaboration, marks the next strategic step. ” Now with Eight Advisory, we work globally, supporting our clients in their international expansion.”
