An expanded consultant. This is the future of the profession in the era of AI that is now taking shape. AI, a key tool heralded as necessary for the successful transformation of client companies. Consequently, consulting firms are in the process of equipping themselves with these specific and complex skills, especially by training their generalist consultants.
This article highlights the growing importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in the guidance industry. Although AI currently represents only a small part of the activities of consulting firms, it is becoming increasingly important for successful business transformation.Consulting firms are pursuing different strategies to incorporate AI capabilities. Some are acquiring dedicated data science/ IA firms and their teams of experts, while others are setting up in-house data labs and hiring tech experts.
One notable trend is training generalists in AI to bridge the communication gap between different teams and add value to clients. These “extended’ consultants can work on AI-related projects and understand both technical and business aspects.The need for consultants who gain AI skills is obvious, but it does not necessarily favour engineers. Companies are looking for versatile profiles who have mastered both the technical and business aspects of AI.
