A graduate in Mechanical Engineering from the Sapienza University of Rome, Eugenio has built a forty-year career at the highest levels of the Italian banking and financial sector. His rigorous technical background gave him, from the very beginning, a highly analytical approach to assessing creditworthiness and building credibility with corporate and industrial clients.
After rising through the ranks at Istituto Mobiliare Italiano and serving as General Manager of IMI Bank Lux, he went on to hold positions of increasing responsibility at Sanpaolo IMI and Intesa Sanpaolo. He ultimately became Chief Lending Officer (CLO) of Italy’s leading banking group, a role he held for nearly a decade, steering the institution through the 2008 financial crisis, the sovereign debt crisis, and the NPL crisis with widely recognised institutional authority.
Today, as Vice-Chairman of Banco BPM and advisor at Eight Advisory, he leverages this extensive experience to support companies and institutions facing financial distress and debt restructuring. He is recognised for his clear methodology, deep understanding of financial dynamics, and a network of relationships developed over decades in the industry. He is a native Italian speaker and fluent in English.
Excellence and Entrepreneurship
Excellence stems from rigor and respect for the rules, the team, and the client, driven by independence and candor; qualities that sometimes lead us to say things that are uncomfortable to hear.
Entrepreneurship is the perfect blend of all these elements: placing trust in others and earning their trust, but never as a means of seeking easy approval.
